Definitely one of the finest rock albums of the period, however due to politics surrounding there record label, and a constantly changing band line-ups, most of their other projects were nothing to write home about. This particular album Epic Forest, had a good flow to it, great lyrics, impressive vocal harmonies, and those hard driving edgy guitar solos. Fine piece of work, by these Chaps, thanks for the upload.

Absolute stunner of a track! One of several on a peerless album, which was so criminally ignored. Back in the day, a lot of mates used to rave on about Wishbone Ash, but having only heard Blowin' Free - which was a fine piece - I imagined that much of the rest of their output would be broadly similar. I was pretty disappointed to find that that wasn't the case. Yet this track by Rare Bird was, prior to that time, the sort of thing I imagined Wishbone Ash were doing, with the fast-paced twin lead guitar lines. But Rare Bird did it better in every way, and were more versatile in songwriting and vocally than Wishbone Ash. Such a terrible shame that it was the other lot that got the success, while Rare Bird got left out in the cold because Polydor couldn't be arsed to promote their albums properly, and never got played on the radio. Well, almost never. Any chance of a Rare Bird reunion one of these days? That's one that SO needs to happen. Bring in all the guys, Kaffinetti, Field, Curtis, Gould, Kelly, Karas, Ashton - remind the world what a great little rock band should really sound like. No frills, no overarching ambitions, no ego trips, just great music which stays in your head for ever. (Perhaps Graham Field could even incorporate a cameo reunion of his unbelievably, criminally ignored post-Rare Bird band, Fields, whose solitary album still fizzes and sparkles and burns with supernova incandescence, with the promise of a great musical career ahead of them. We can but dream).

Just ordered their 73 and 74 albums. Might get this one too. Don't really like the 1970 album though. Vocals sound crap lol

After I wrote down the lyrics, it only took about an hour or so to work it up. You can do it once you figure out what key it is in.

how much time did you take to learn the song by heart?

Great unknown band I haven't listened to them in about 15 years until recently . I forgot how imaginative they are . Epic Song from a truly epic band.

One of the absolute GREAT moments in 70s rock----a true classic ---the riffing and vocal harmonies are off the charts!

Epic Forest is one of my all time favorite records. In 72 I was 19. I wore out the 8 track tape. I still have the LP but haven't listened to it in 35 years! What memories this has brought back. Rare Bird is a part of my being!!!

Why is it no one can learn anything on guitar without friggin tabs? I learned this song 32 years ago right off the record and so did the rest of my band. Yes, RECORD/ VINYL, played with a turntable, listened by my ears, note for note on my guitar. It made me a better player and I developed an ear for hearing harmonies and chord changes not to mention lead guitar riffs. Screw the tabs and sit down with the CD or whatever and do yourself a favor, you will become a better player for it.

@pwnso tabs are not likely, but it's nowhere near as difficult as it sounds. very logical if you just take one gtr part at a time, and the 2nd part rides right on top of the first....if i figgered it out, just about anybuddy can!
