There are not many composers writing art songs these days. This is as beautiful as and Schubert Lieder. While I love Newman's performance, I wonder what Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Gerald Moore would have done with this outstanding composition.

This song brings tears to my eyes. Sad but promising song. Randy Newman hall of famer well deserved for all the great music he's done. I love l.a. Another one also.

One artist that could've covered this Randy Newman classic impeccably would have been the late Billie Holiday. It seems written for an artist like her. Also, for those unfamiliar with Bobby Darin -- Darin had one of the most sincere & intense covers of this tune from the last album he recorded. This is one of the greatest songs ever written & while today's crop of songwriters have talent -- they are a long way from this one.

Without a doubt, one of the most creative minds of our time. Spanning several generations from the 60's to the present and hopefully future. Yeah, he has a 'tude'. Who doesn't? And politics? Wow, it should be banned. Let's just vote on everything. give everybody a shot at it. When Randy was through trying to impress the adults he wrote the tracks for Toy Story, a Bugs Life and may it never end.

Sorry, I was having a brain fart, apologies. I don't capitalize "I" because I have a crushed hand that makes typing hard, so i take short cuts, if this was a legal document, i wouldn't. However, this is youtube and I'm free to not capitalize my "i"s.

How can you say that? A "hypothesis" can have no other source than the human brain. And why don't you capitalize "I" for convention's sake? I am at a loss why you guys do this. We have a great medium for interchanging ideas. Yet you don't use it that way.
