On this day in 1966 {October 9th} "Rain on the Roof" by the Lovin' Spoonful entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #76; and five weeks later on October 13th, 1966 it peaked at #10 {for 1 week} and spent 10 weeks on the Top 100...It reached #12 on the Canadian RPM 100 Singles chart...Was the quartet's sixth of seven straight records to make the Top 10; started with "Do You Believe in Magic" {#9}, "You Didn't Have to Be So Nice" {#10}, "Daydream" {#2 for 2 weeks}, "Did You Ever Have to Make Up Your Mind?" {#2 for 2 weeks}, "Summer in the City" {#1 for 3 weeks}, this one, and finally "Nashville Cats" {#8}...Sadly, lead guitarist 'Zal' Yanovsky passed away on December 13th, 2002 at the young age of 57... May he R.I.P.
