For anyone wondering about the time signature, it is more 10/8 than anything (although the cymbals are sometimes in a straight 5/4 poly-rhythm against other drums and guitars). What I mean by that is 6/8(also known as compound 2)+2/4(also known as simple two), or two compound beats + two simple beats, or 3+3+2+2, whatever makes more sense; it's just 4 ways to say the same exact thing. You could say 5/8, but the pattern doesn't line up in 5s (3+2 or 2+3), it lines up with 6(3+3) and 4(2+2); 5/8 normally implies two beats in a measure with one being compound and the other being simple. You could also say 5/4, but as I said earlier there are only 4 beats (2 beats that subdivided into eighth notes 3 and 2 that are subdivided into 2 eighth notes, or 3+3+2+2). 5/4 is normally used to notate a measure of 3 beats + a measure of 2 beats. It's really a semantics thing because while a lot of these time sigs are mathematically the same in some respects, the implications of how the rhythms are arranged are different. Hopefully this helps people understand rhythm better, and if not, oh well I still love ranting about this stuff.
