It was sad.On his song 'A lonely Place' people say they can hear that he's already decided and he's singing 'bout it. Dunno if that's true. I think suicides are more spontaneous than that.Heavens, what a morbid subject !!! ;-)

I honestly don't know what to think of reincarnation myself. A guy called Ian Stevenson did a lot of research into children who claim to have memories of past lives.By the way, this song is very catchy.

I know, but I think he said in the vid that certain themes re-occur among the group soul. At least I think he did? I dunno.I supposed mystics believe what they do because they've experienced it.But then some (like the guy who did the 'reading' of IC's 'past life') believe 'lower astral entities' can decieve us psychically. So how d'y'know that's not happening. It's like people's Near Death Experiences, a lot of 'em contradict each other theologically, in BIG ways...I mean I believe in SOMETHING

Yes. Which is why I kinda doubt Bernard is Dostoevsky come back! It's an 'interesting' video. I mean, assuming the guy who did it isn't a deliberate fraud, how does he KNOW, and KNOW that he KNOWS? I mean ppl believe all sorts of things. I could believe I'm, er, Jimi Hendrix. The idea of 'group souls' is interesting tho', they supposedly knew each other and reincarnate and resume relationships.I came across it recently in a book.But how would you KNOW?

Stroczek, yes, in '24 Hour Part People' there's that weird thing on the tv when Ian does it. I think it's unhealthy the way ppl have made a 'Curtis cult' out of him. Morbid, tho' it was tragic. Anyway, the video I mention is just some guy who reckons he can discern peoples' previous 'incarnations'. He claims to access the 'Akashic Records',a kind of psychic source of information. He makes claims for IC's, Bernard Sumner's, and Tony Wilson's past 'incarnations'. I won't spoil it 4 u...

You made me laugh then. Yes, how could they know what Ian watched before he did it? Unless the tv was left on BBC2 or whatever, and with a pathologist giving an approximate time of death, it was deduced he'd watched it.(What was it, a foreign art film? Sounds like it.)They also say he'd been listening to Iggy Pop's 'The Idiot'.By the way u might like a vid by GarySe7en 'Ian Cutis and Joy Division' on YT which is about reincarnation.Tell me what you think.It's, er, 'speculative',shall we say?

Annik Honore, the girl Ian was having an affair with, right? It's funny how peoples' memories change. During the Bloody Sunday inquiry it was said that a protester was shot and their eyebrow was blown off. Someone put the eyebrow in a matchbox. Something like 19 people came forward saying THEY were the one who put the eyebrow in the matchbox.Our memories are fallible. Never heard the bit about IC phoning the girl.Could he have used a pay phone? Who knows? I'm not in a position to say.

I dunno why I brought this up, actually (gossiping I guess !). I heard on YouTube Ian HAD attempted suicide (taken lots of tablets, anyway) before he hung himself, and Bernard Sumner was aware of it. I guess they were young, wrapped up in themselves and the music and didn't notice Ian (young men ARE self-absorbed).Peter Hook says Ian didn't even HAVE A PHONE, so, without calling anyone a liar, someone's got it wrong ! What a tangled web!

Didn't he ( Genesis) claim Curtis phoned him up the night of his suicide, and he kinda fobbed him off or something. Curtis had allegedly phoned up his bandmates and they'd previously made comments like :'Oh, Ian's always saying he'll kill himself.' ?

great song, always found the video a bit cringeworthy... maybe it's Gen's hair, maybe it's the dolphins, I dunno. Good tune though. I'd like to think he'd appreciate it.
