It was approved, had the troops and equipment moved into position, was scheduled to take place and had a timetable set, and had the supply depots overflowing with munitions and equipment in preparation for the attack. What happened to that invasion? Germany's Operation Barbarossa happened, a few weeks before the Russian operation was lauched. So what would have happened had Germany put Barbarossa off a few weeks? It was obvious that they had an invasion set to take off but by shear luck Barbarossa took place before it did. It is certainly something to ponder.
