Cover of the Wild Knights from The Poppies 1987 album, Box Frenzy. I recorded this rarely seen video from The Chart Show, i think the band pretty much disowned it as it never featured on any of their compilations.

I also recall videoing this, then going to see Balaam and the Angel on the same night at Dudley jb's, and spotting Clint outside waiting to go in. The wife and I saw them on their November 87 tour (supporting local heroes the Mighty Lemon Drops).... fantastic days, great shows and now so long ago! I have the recording somewhere of the Lemon Drops, PWEI and Wild Flowers somewhere from the show

Never seen this. They're quite like pigs to look at and they are very, VERY ugly. (I quote about one of my favourite bands!) ;)

Saw them a few times back in the day, but don't remember ever seeing this video.I remember John Peel didn't play this song because he thought it was sexist. Janice Long, on the other hand, did play it.

I remember being in a nightclub in Middlesbrough when the band members turned up after a gig they had done there. The DJ played Beaver Patrol while they were on the dance floor and Clint made did a thumbs down to the DJ booth and they walked off the dance floor. I'm guessing they didn't consider this their greatest moment?

you can kind of tell from the look on Clint's face that he knows he's going to go on to create some award winning film scores in the 21st century

@cockywatchman1976 When I first listened to 1987 by the JAMs I thought it was silly too. But it was funny. It had a bratty, juvenile sense of humor that I could relate to at the time. Same deal with the Beastie Boys. Most people thought it was just flash in the pan, nonsense, had no future. Then one day these people are on TOTP. And everyone just laughs along with the joke. Somewhere along the line they end up becoming "real" artists. You're just not in on the joke.

@cockywatchman1976 What I have typed is my opinion, and has only as much weight as you give it. When you insult people who like things you don't like, don't expect a thank you card. I notice DOUCHEBAGS like to randomly captialize things. Ambient rock, classic rock, rock, rock, classic rock, grunge rock, whoever. You like all sorts of rock. Even your rock choices are boring. No industrial, no metal, no stoner, no blues.

@cockywatchman1976 If you want to be taken seriously, critique the music not the fans. A lot of people didn't think much of hip hop either (cue your outrage here) until it gained pop success. Music is just organized noise. Some people find it interesting. I imagine you have no love for dubstep, but to argue that it's not music is just as ignorant. /wiki/Clint_Mansell one of these days and tell me how much of a loser and misfit he is. Music is what you like, not who you are.
