When I was 9 years old (I'm 18 now) I was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer called Gorlin Syndrome. It developed at the age of 9 by forming 13 golf ball sized tumors around my mouth. The doctor told me I would never have a straight smile ever again. I had them removed.... It took me 2 and a half months to recover physically... I'm still recovering emotionally. I had 3 major surgeries on my mouth due to tumors. Along with over 25 surgeries removing skin cancers. I thought I wasn't going to make it. I missed a ton of school and was told I wouldn't graduate in time. Then I reached the age of 14 I got braces to fix the 14 teeth that I have left from surgery. Within a year, my teeth straightened completely and had my braces removed 4 years afterwards. I smiled for the first time when they were took off and I blew the doctors away. I went back to school and started working very hard.Now I'm a proud graduate of my high school, I graduated ON TIME and with a normal diploma And I got accepted to a Christian private college for the spring semester of 2015. That's MY god. He gave me strength to keep breathing and to keep fighting. He was there when I needed him. He led me through the darkest times. He's still here with me and I thank him every single day. Any young teens like me, hear my voice, if I can do it... So can you
