Mr Bruce ....this is awesome. You nailed it. This solo is quite Bluesy indeed; the hammer on/pull offs that occur before the bent notes are masterful and you owned them! Kudos to the original player and also to the Ohio Players for inspiring this song! If you watch the Midnight Special TV show version of Fire by the Ohio Players, the second guitar solo does sound rather similar to Wild Cherry's Play That Funky Music.
