I think this song is about falling in love at a young age together. I really don't think this is talking about an age gap in a relationship, it will be easier to understand for teens when you when you actually do get a bit older. You look back on things and your memories and the love you felt even at such a young age when everyone tells you that you are too young to know what love is. For instance, my husband (then boyfriend) and I heard the "you don't know what love is" line when we said we loved each other when we were 14 years old, although we did. Now we are 21, 7 years later, adults and are still in love. We always knew what love felt like when we were young because there's no such thing as "too young" to know love. I also want to say this and maybe it's not my place, no offense to anyone, but I think it's different when there's a big age gap between 2 adults in a relationship rather than a child and an adult in a relationship - this draws the line for pedophilia. If you are in your early to mid twenties and are messing with a young teenager that's maybe 15, something is wrong. That's an adult and teenage child... a person who could be in grad school and a person just out of middle school... It's different when you have a 40 year old and 48 year old engage in a relationship.
