He is currently dying of cancer and brain tumors and he always tries to stay happy, smile, and laugh even though the doctors say that they can't help him anymore. But these lyrics made me so emotional. I just really connected to it

I really want to like this band. The music is beautiful and the lyrics are full of emotion. They remind me so much of Explosions in the Sky and I love that but I'm not feeling the singer. Did anyone else have trouble with that and have you been able to appreciate it more as you listen to it?
