If you really examine it, this is not a love song at'all. At least not in the traditional sense .Its more so about the desire for freedom or autonomy, apart from love. "the cage it called." he refers to the Creator by mention: "I am not waiting to be acknowledged by a touch from his gnarled hands" this lyric is a sarky wink to the idea that God is love, and that love was his jailer. To those who pity him he says, " and id kill you with my bare hands if I where free.", which is a fairly non loving action to undertake....But the music sure does sound pretty... enough to romanticize its true meaning, which is a little more cosmic then a simple love song for ones hands to run through someones hair. Love disfigured him, it distorted his outlook upon his own countenance , and no remorse was offered for this burden. So he would beseech his own nature. "I am not this broken thing" what a concept huh.Ps. my bones are also steam
