I can't explain why this song has a hypnotic effect on the listener. One of the all time great songs.

One of my favourite songs, and one of my favourite artists. But on this occasion, this particular performance doesn't (sorry) quite hit the spot, I don't think. The guitar is lovely, of course, but he's struggling with the singing. And he kind of exposes himself to unnecessary difficulty by e.g. going for long sustains.Because I really LOVE Townshend, and always have, I found I was getting tense for him over the singing, rather than enjoying the song.The voice is the first thing that comes and the first thing that goes, I'm afraid. McCartney struggles these days too.

great mix : Dylan's great song Townshend's trilling guitar ,non perfect voice and loving interpretation,makes this even better than the original Cash- Dylan version , waw !

I have always liked Dylan....but when I heard Pete T sing this I loved it immediately...I just had to share. Its not for everyone, but if you're a crazy sentimentalist like I am then maybe you will too.. Enjoy.

Yeh I love this but the debt it owes to Scarborough Fair is enormous, in fact I think Dylan wrote it after touring Britain and mixing with the whole English folk scene at the time, namely Martin Carthy who's arrangement correct me if i'm wrong was practically lifted wholesale by Paul Simon.

When management broke the news about failing to obtain the rights to these gems, Pete was alleged to have calmly said, "Then The Who is finished. Kaput." That was 1982, and Pete devoted much of his time seeking Kharmic re-alignment. How so? At first, by gluing together guitars, mandolins, ukeleles, and cellos smashed by other musicians. And then, between 1984 and 1997, by moonlighting at a Burger King (to regain street credibility). That Faber & Faber job was just a red herring.
