Light speed is really slow compared to our galaxy, let alone the universe. Once you got out past the dense swarm of ancient stars that is our galaxy you would go literally hundreds of years without noticing a change in your surroundings, even at lightspeed.

hmm well at 1G acceleration with a magic engine that could go the speed of light it would take 1 year of constant acceleration. (google) so considering 7G is probably the most you would want to feel.. 52 days of acceleration via a magic engine with huge amounts of mass-less fuel, then you would just die of 52 days at 7Gs. maybe 27 days at 14 G, or 13 days @ 28Gs is more survivable....lol.i guess it would take some time, slowing down is the same.

Photons are mass-less. It would also take quite a lot longer than "a few seconds" to reach the Sun while traveling at the speed of light. It would take about 8 minutes. The fact that light can be sucked into a black hole does not mean that photons have mass.. Plus traveling at the speed of light in a vacuum would not collapse your rib cage, crush your lights heart and throat... You would need to be in an atmosphere for that to occur.

that is a general relativity question. I have not studied general rel yet but from my understanding that is because gravity has an effect on energy too, and the newtonian view of gravity is not complete. Though one way to prove an object with mass can not travel the speed of light is through special relativity. Kinetic energy = (mc^2)/(1-(v/c)^2)^(1/2). you can see this is an asymptote and as you approach the speed of light it requires an infinite amount of energy which can't happen :P
