So for everyone that's wondering what the lyrics mean: I've never looked at God as being the main conflict in this song. I've always felt that it's had more to do with his struggles with bipolar disorder. You can hear it very strongly in the last part of the song where it almost sounds like an argument between different parts of himself. For the most part though, the beginning seems to talk about changes and extremes of emotion. Like when he says, "And from my shell of a body, the flowers blossom for picking" It seems like after this traumatic event he was able to pick himself up again and look for something good. He went from feeling like a mere part of his whole self to looking at life blooming around him and other positive things. If anyone else looked at the lyrics through a bipolar lens I'd love to know what they think of my interpretation.

This is not To Kingdom Come. It's Eyes As Candles. I own the CD.And they say "your eyes as my candles" in the lyrics, if you pay even the most remote amount of attention.
