I first heard this melodic theme on March 13th (2015) on the Sirius Internet Escape channel. Issued in 1962 as Hugo Winterhalter & His Orchestra, “Pagan Love Song” (Freed-Brown), was featured in his RCA Victor album “Hugo Winterhalter Goes Hawaiian.”“Pagan Love Song” is from 1929 MGM movie, “The Pagan,” which had partial sound (music & sound effects), was filmed in Tahiti, & starred Ramon Novarro, & beautiful Dorothy Janis. “Pagan Love Song” lyrics as sung by James Melton on the movie soundtrack (posted on YouTube):Where the golden sun beamsand the lazy land dreams,all the happy years through,you’ll belong to me and I to you. Come with me where moonbeamslight Tahitian skies,and the starlit waterslinger in your eyes.Native hills are callingto them we belong,and we’ll cheer each otherwith a pagan love song.
