Es ist das Lied eines Handelsmatrosen, der auf einen der Geleitzuege im WWII gepresst wurde. the first time i heard this song i was about 11 years old and had to do a report on eastern mountain ballads. this song was on a record i rented from the library. i didn't hear it again for almost 40 years . and it is just as stirring to my soul as it was when i was 12.

So proud to be a Nova Scotian! :) I love my province! I have to say that of all the places I've been in the west I think BC is the most similar to Nova Scotia as far as landscape goes. It still is different but at least there's trees... haha. There's nothin' like the good ole Atlantic though. boy... I cannot wait to return home for the summer! Alberta is such a bore. (no offence all ye Albertans)
