@oharov From what I've found, yes. Taranis and Thor both descend from the same Indo-European god. Even the name both means Thunderer. However they have been separated by culture (Taranis being Celtic, obviously). I'm also of the belief the same god is also Zeus and Jupiter. (And Romans thought the same thing, because they merged Taranis with Jupiter in Roman Gaul)

Dude, they're Pagan. They can invoke the divine masculine by any name, much like Pagans invoke the Goddess by any name: "Isis, Astarte, Dianna, Hecate, Demeter, Kali," is a popular chant. Also, when they wrote this, they were stuck in a thunderstorm on top of a hill. The song reflects their awe and wonder at the mighty storm. Not silly at all if you ask me :P

@oharov Wotan or Woden is a corresponding God to Odin. Odin - East German, Woden - West German, Taranis - Gaul and British Isles. Jupiter - Ancient Roman. There are a few other who could fall into the same role as all of these Gods -- Secellus, Dagda, Thor . . . list goes on and on. The lyrics are silly, though, I agree.
