Whenever I listen to this song, I see a person who's struggling with a balance for fantasy and reality. Like they want to be happy, and they are happy in fantasy, but then reality comes and slaps them in the face. And then they try and cover the reality up and pretend it's not there, but they know they can't, and then they want everyone to love them for it and to be happy with life. But, in the end, I think that this person found their happiness because it talks about how a guy smiled at them and that that was such a great thought. So... maybe this was the balance of reality and fantasy they were looking for.I also love this lyric video because it has a mystical, folktale-ish, almost Americana feel to it. There are monsters in the lake and it has a fantasy-ish feel; I perceived this as the balance... and then the end about the balance too. So fantasy and reality come together and there's about 1/4 of fantasy, and 3/4 of reality. We really need both to overcome life and be happy. :) I've always loved a mini-series called Over the Garden Wall, and this song and lyric video really reminds me of it. Anyone else who watches it should really understand this song better. :)
