Another version of Rainy Day Bells. Although Norman Fox gets credit for writing the tune, it was actually written by Neil Sedaka & Howard Greenfield.

I,too, can confirm that this is a bootleg......the BackBeat label had more design on their labels, and were rarely pressed on color vinyl.

Guy walks into my shop upstate NY in the Catskills 10 years ago and "Tell Me Why" is playing. Guy says is that a radio station? I say no, it's my CD. He says, that's me singing and leaves before I get to talk with him. Small world.

This was recorded in 1974. We then re-did it A cappella in 1991 for Starlight Records, for a CD.

I'm not sure when Norman recorded this song but this record shown above is a bootleg. Back Beat 500 is not this record.

This is OK, but the Globetrotters version blows this away

It's a very good version.

Neil and Howie wrote this song way back when, but shelved it for reasons we may never know. It was dug out when Neil was doing a set of previously unrecorded tunes and his friend Jeff Barry picked this out for an otherwise obscure group the Globetrotters. Neil's version came out on an anthology somewhat later. This version is clearly inferior to both of the other versions mentioned. I think someone else already said that here!

Fair version. Does not come close to the Globetrotters.
