Gwen knew Brad was on heroin (it wasn't a huge secret) and that's one reason she would not get closer to him. Also, he was getting overweight and his body was not something she would sacrifice, she needed a man with a nice body and not on heroin. They could have been a rockin' couple if he would have just laid off the heroin. Without the heroin, he might have kept in shape and then Gwen would have married him.
