Listening to this again, I'm reminded of why I like the Lambert version better. This one just feels too safe, not powerful enough. The lyrical arrangement isn't as good as Adam's.

I'm a glambert and I respect that Kris sang very well. I think that they both sing this song flawlessly. NOBODY DID IT BETTER than each other, it's up to our music taste, which kinda songs we like.And TBH I can't really judge that who sang it better

As far as connection to the song, I don't feel it in Kris's version. He sang the song for the sake of singing it. Adam's version has so much emotions in it. As a listener, I feel his emotions and I get affected by it. Kris is a good vocalist but Adam is an artist! This is my opinion.

Consider the content of the song, I think... Adam's version is more "inspirational" and really encouraging people to "break every rule". Adam and Kris are both great singers, its just this song is more suitable for Adam's vocal. Honestly, Adam has that star quality and power that can travel further than the English-speaking natons :)

Kris allen version translated the song to some melodious pop while Adam's version one translated to Rock! They have such different voices, giving such distinct difference in effect!
