um, strictly speaking Brecht and Weill were songwriting partners on this one. Brecht was NOT a musician, he was the lyricist. Weill was NOT a singer, he was the composer. It either went like "oh, kurt; I write this funny little poem, can you compose some music for it?" or "hey bert, here's a new little tune I banged up on the piano; got any words to go with it?"
