She would never have made it if she wasn't physically attractive (i.e. hot). I have always hated that Whitney song. Her worst song IMO. Same thing with Whitney, or almost any big music star/vocalist. "I Wanna Dance With Somebody", was probably her best song and she probably didn't write it. Most artists do not. The corporate studios, songwriters, and producers, choreographers, write the songs, create the dance moves for videos etc. and tell them what they're going to do. They dictate to the artist what to do. It's all corporate commercialism and dumbing down of the masses (selling out America and the world), for corporate financial gain. Most people are too stupid to see it and they eat it up. They have never seen real talent in their lives. Because real talent, generally doesn't sell out to the corporations. Believe me when I tell you, the best music and the best vocalists and instrumentalists, you have probably never heard or heard of. Laura Worley was so much better than NS, and NS is much better now obviously than she used to be.
