I think this song is about a casual relationship Nick became involved in shortly before his death, within the last few years at least. I believe she was a worldly, sexually experience gal, even a bit hard, but he liked her, cared for her, but did not love her. She knew of him and his music and was intrigued. She even desired sex from him, but Nick did not concede. Nick was a very romantic gentleman in my opinion and did not go out for casual sex, possibly even dying a virgin. He did however, consider it with this woman. He liked her enough to be at least slightly hurt if she was late or didn't show up when he thought she would.
