nevermore is one of those bands that cant be put into subgenres. its basically just modern heavy metal. if you look up stuff about them you will see people use like 6 different metal subgenres when its really a combination of the 6 which to me would make more sense saying just heavy metal. and as a huge DT fan i get your thing about the lack of feeling since the early days except for the 12 step suite, those 5 songs and octavarium have so much fucking emotion and feeling that its almost unreal.

Yup, you have a very good point, I'd rather not put labels on creativity ..and lucky..wish I could see them live, both with Rudess and Kevin Moore, as well as Mike Portnoy.. a really amazing band, same goes for Nevermore..

It's really hard to say if Nevermore is really Prog Metal, specially when we compare them to DT. I don't care much about labeling bands, but I can tell Nevermore's purpose is to be more aggressive and emotional, while DT is technically superior but lacks that much heart (I'm not talking about old DT songs, which are incredibly meaningful). I've seen DT live here in Brazil twice and they did good both times, but their set lists always disappoint me. Sadly, I could never manage to see Nevermore.

As for the sales..great musicians hardly get the recognition they deserve, but this way they get to have a tighter and more loyal fanbase, unlike mainstream music

Well..prog metal is new to me, so I wouldn't start an argument on it without being too familiar , I haven't had the chance to see DT live yet.. as for Scenes from a memory my country was in their tour list , however i wasn't old enough to cross the street alone then, hehe. I regret not being able to see neither Dream Theater nor Nevermore live.. Have dug throughout the whole Dream Theater discography and they miss something Nevermore has and vice versa.can't explain it.though I still love both

i am sorry youre right i should ve never compared these 2 Bands they are amazing in their own right It was just my intention that people check out this song by Dream Theater but i tried to do it the wrong way

Yeah, and the second 4 minutes of this other song by this other band is way better than those first 5 minutes by Dream Theater that are better than the beginning of this song. I mean, because enjoying music on the basis of constantly comparing it to other music is totally the best way of enjoying music, am i right?

You know what still strange to me after all those year of being a Dream Theater Fan That they only sold 300.000 copies of Images & Words to the year 2004 Yes i started listening to Prog Metal in 1999 when i got hooked with Scenes from a Memory in my oppinion one of their Best CD s i also love Systematic Chaos i also saw them Live 3 Times it was ALWAYS amazing
