I have always considered Neil Finn a songwriting mentor. His style is that of always looking for something a little different or unexpected while still having a great melody at the root of it all. The tones of the instruments and enhancements he adds are brilliant. I can listen to "Into Temptation" with headphones on & still catch a small part that I had not noticed. 20 + years later. This new group of songs will no doubt be brilliant & beautiful & well received by critics & fellow songwriters like Paul McCartney, Sheryl Crowe & Shawn Colvin. You can even add Dave Mustane of Megadeth as a fan. I have always hoped that all of his efforts here in the US would be rewarded with commercial success, but it just has not happened. He can draw a crowd, but not what he draws in Europe or Australia.
