I love it. It seems like it would be really hard to sing an aria and conduct an ensemble at the same time, but listening to this, it turns out that may be exactly what the piece needs. After all, Bach didn't write "accompaniments" as an afterthought. He always wrote intricate polyphonic pieces of music in which the soloist plays an important but integrated role. And what better way to ensure everything integrates than to have the soloist conduct the ensemble? Of course that requires somebody who happens to be an accomplished conductor and a great soloist, but Stutzmann can definitely pull it off. Her singing of the aria is excellent to begin with, of course, and the violin solo is pretty much perfect, but it's the combination of it all that really makes a good Bach recording.
