I am not qualified to judge on anyone's voice or singing technique, I am no specialist so for the fans of Natalie Dessay, please take no ofense: I can't understand a word of what she's singing, and I know the Traviata by heart... I am nobody to criticise her diction, just as a simple listener in the audience I would appreciate to understand the words when a singer sings. But I do admire her voice!

I am fascinated by many sopranos from Leontyne Price to Lisa Della Casa to Diana Damrau but for some reason I am not in love with Dessay's voice. I don't know why that is because so many people go crazy over her. I think her range is pretty awesome of course but I've never felt that her voice had much depth or color. Maybe that's what it is. She reminds me of singers like Roberta Peters.
