I guess what sets Nancy apart is her intelligence. Even with her first album she was a wise singer, nothing naive or cutesy about her, no posing. There's never been any sense of her acting when she performs. She always, each time up to bat, inhabits every song. She came to success very young and that's the worst thing that can happen to any singer because along the way it's easy to lose the first blush of passion. It never happened to her. She caught fire and stayed aflame.
