I've loved this song ever since Stevie's original blew me away when I was a 17 year old student. I performed it occasionally back in the early 90's, accompanied by my good mate AGT on piano. I was asked if I could sing it during a gig a few weeks ago and went for it a cappella.

There's a moment when you sing a song and truly realize how perfect it is. I like interpreting other artists songs as well as writing and performing my own. I grew up with this ethic.

Stevie, like Ray Charles before him, has the ability to fully access the widest possible spectrum of music, from groove to ballad and beyond, and make it happen every time. Absolute heroes both.

I thought I'd try to create a part for Lately on my acoustic and it's coming together. Another few weeks of gigging it and I'll have it down.

This video was captured in the studio while demoing new originals. I'd been playing around with the tune in a break and so set up the iPhone video, vocal mic and pickup and captured a spontaneous take. Hope you like it.

It's a little rough at the edges and the guitar intonation went awol in the sunlight somewhere along the way but I like the fact it's of the moment... mistakes and all.

Just love this song... simple as. Hope you like my interpretation.
