there are plenty of current bands unconcerned with success, it only appears otherwise because the most prominent ‘fun’ bands are old, and that’s because they've had the time to become appreciated and known. of course you won’t know many current obscure bands, because so far they’ve been short lived and there are now more pop dog shit bands, but only more not only. anyway, grungy music was pop in the 90s
