Grunge wasn't a replacement for Glam Metal. Glam Metal was just what MTV pushed on everyone through their power grab on the music industry. There was always different kinds of music to choose from. True metalers didn't even all listen to glam. In fact if you really listen to Def Leppard Hysteria album though, it has a concept to it, as if to describe someone in the military, hittting on the wrong kind of women, going to war, feeling bad about it. I hated their look on the Hysteria tour, but the album had a concept.

I wish there were more documentaries or movies on grunge/alternative music of the 90s I thought it was a very special time.Mother Love Bone/Alice in Chains/Soundgarden/Pearl Jam/Green River/Love Battery/Grun Trunk/The Melvins etc etc etc

yeah but it wasn't all about Kurt. Alice n Chains were popular before Nirvana as well as bands like Mudhoney & Mucky Pup....and at the time they were just another band on the circuit, it wasn't until after he died that people began placing the band on some pedestal. I liked Nirvana, but they were one of many many bands & they were all great at the same time, no one at that time was singled out really, same for music genres, it was be yourself & listen to what you like even if it isn't all grunge or alternative or rock, it was all one big melting pot. today they make it seem like there were leaders, there weren't I was there and at least where I lived people liked a bit of everything no one hailed Nirvana as the leaders.
