That's actually quite a point of contention, my good man. This is not a knock on Death, far be it from me to bash one of my favorite guitarists. Schuldiner was a hell of a force in all subgenres of metal, but Scream Bloody Gore was not far removed from the sort of sound presented here by Mortician. They have always been "simplistic," focused on brutality, and that's their strength. There are many different styles, listen to Death's albums through the ages alone to hear that.
