I am not proud of it but I once did 4 weeks hard labour in Strangeways for nicking bacon from co-op and shared a cell with Morrissey who was in for nicking cheese ( he wouldn't touch meat). Anyway, we swapped tales of criminality and stuff like you do when your a dead hard criminal like me and I said to Morrissey I said ' Oi you, your not cut out to be a criminal you look like a singer and extremely gifted lyricist you should go and do that instead' that's what I said to him and then I said 'if I see you in here again I will punch your nose really hard and make your eyes water'. Poor Moz looked terrified, I didn't mean to be cruel just wanted to scare him away from a life behind bars, anyway looks like I did the trick. I remember our last night together and telling him the story of Hector, the first of our gang to die. I always remember how he said it would make a good song.
