One of the most under-rated bands of all time. The Auto-tuned and choreographed boys of today should listen to this band that can sing and harmonize together (something that made the Beatles great) on music and lyrics they created themselves. It is what you call real talent. The Moody's Albert Hall concert on PBS was first class. Many Baby-Boomers of today fondly remember some acid trips while listening to their earlier concept albums! Btw the Moody's have withstood the test of time with longevity and music that is still sounds great and is relevant today.

I may have posted previously about the live vs lip sync debate, so please excuse me if I have. Aside from the immense enjoyment of watching and listening to this performance, there are a few things to listen for critically that differ from the studio (album) version. There is the full album track support with vocals the band performs to (as per made for TV stuff 'cause it cut production cost), and all the instruments are not plugged in.. In addition to that, the vocal mics are live, so there is that live component. Here is a breakdown of the evidence of it:1) between the first and second verse, the vocals come in early, and especially John Lodge reacts to it. This was a serious flub by the band, which of course is not on the studio version.2) Graeme Edge's drumming is audible, but just lightly tapping, as picked up by the vocal mics. This is called "leakage" in audio engineering. Edge is purposefully not playing hard as to keep the music sounding balanced for this performance. Again, this is a made for television concert. Many bands hated doing lip sync gigs (they were told to or not do the gig at all)3) The last verse has more pronounced live vocals, as we can hear John Lodge's high tenor echoing in the hall.4) At the very tail off the band fades their live vocal, as we can also hear Graeme Edge fading on his drum kit. The studio track fades before the band does, so all we hear at the very end are vocals and drums as they do so.I hope some of us may find this interesting. Quality headphones or speakers recommended for any critical listening. Rock on!!
