certainly a fitting tribute to a friend and calypso opponent i concur with harry Belafonte these are poets these lyrics are so profound Birdy pays tribute to mello but still gets in a few blows effectively having the last word in their lyrical and poetic combats

Melo and Birdie are great heroes of our homeland T+T. Their kaiso wars were not only top class entertainment but it also raised the standard of calypso. They were able to achieve this because of their close friendship and love for the artform. Remember that Heroes never die. Thanks.

Harry Belafonte... Speak up. Did you compensate Lord Melody enough from the money you made by using his song "mama look at boo boo deh"? Did you ever indicate that this was not your original song and attribute the composition to Lord Melody? What about all the other calypsoes you made money from that were composed by other caribbean calypsonians and you did not compensate them? Your actions are questioned in the last verse of this song.
