This is the real meaning of the song :POne of the band members mother was dying, And it was about her passing away eventually in the "Sand".It kept falling apart and keeping on until it just completely crashed, Other people who say anything else are just basing the video on their opinions of what it is.

I feel like it's about old age and dying, and how at your last moments even if you have people around you helping you, you're still feeling it and dealing with it alone, as you will also be in your last moments. We all die alone no matter what. I've watched my mom dying of cancer when I was a teenager, and even though she had someone with her almost 24/7, she was the one who had to bear the physical and emotional pain, and the fear, not us, and the fact that we all felt some of it, especially the grief and the fear, it didn't alleviate her own pain. She even told my dad how alone and afraid she felt, even though we were all with her, and at her final hours, even though we were all stood at her bed, with me holding her hand, it felt like she was alone in her suffering, she wouldn't communicate with us, or even return my hugs, even though she loved me more than anything, even more than herself. I know I'm rambling, but it's kinda hard to explain, like think about it, when you finally die, will those who are there for you be with you when you go through the last stages and cease to exist? and will their presence make you feel less alone when you're hurting, and they're not (at least not physically)? when you're no longer planning for the future and just laying there waiting to die, while they still going on with their daily lives which you're no longer part of?*Edit* Tnx video for making me think about these awful things, and making me depressed :'(
