I know why people hate on lars's technique, it's because such bands nowadays have introduced more wack stupid triple kicks on bass drums that these guys are the solid stone and foundation to what your shitty same old soft server drumming sounds like today.

It´s the music he "produces". People who hate him could never play like him even they think they could. Music is about energy and feel. Tempo changes and all is part of his game. They are not "accidents" like haters think. Good drummer makes the band sound like it should. If you listen to John Bonham drum tracks, they are also full of small "mistakes" and uneven stuff and what have you. It´s not what counts when you want the music to please your brain. btw have you heard top bands covering metallica? it´s not the same and that is the magic.
