Stengah was the very first song I heard from the band Meshuggah and I was instantly hooked by their sound. This is heavy but super groovy song and is probably one of Meshuggah's best examples of polyrhythmic repeated patterns and riff's under a big slow half time groove. Some of these grooves like the one at 4:28 feel like an eternity between snares, with the underlining kick and china pattern.

Because I have known this song for so long and already played through the main grooves of Stengah a couple of years ago in my 'Nothing Album Drum Cover Medley' (link below), when I came back to learning the song in it's entirety I was more comfortable playing around with the patterns and adding more of my own flavour by stabbing some of the grooves on the china instead of playing on the toms as Tomas Haake did for example like during the outro at 5:00 . All in all I love this song and the way the song makes me feel. Hope you all enjoy!

Hey Troy, just curious as to why you left out the toms on the final groove?I've been hesitant to put up a Stengah cover for a while now, because that final part is so hard to accent the crashes whilst also playing the rounds on the toms, and then somehow fitting in snare hits aswell hahaha.Makes me feel better that you left it out aswell hahahahaKeep it up Troy you bloody winner

Man! I have always wanted to play this song. Now I have great example:) You are awesome. Is there any paper (pdf) version of this beats? One of the hardest meshuggah songs to play for me. Even the beginning is rediculous. What polyrythm is on hi-hat against china there? And what about these ghost notes on snare? Man! Just fantastic!
