You're selling emotions

That I can't buy

Don't want the sadness

Price is far too high

And I don't want

I don't need your package lies

I've got too much in store

Someone help me

Find the merchant of love

Selling heaven here on earth

I've bought pain and measures

Of pure heartache

I've had all I can take

I'm willing to wait

For lasting pleasure

With promises

That won't ever break

Someone help me

Find the merchant of love

With a full guarantee

I'd travel

Miles and miles and miles

To find the place

With treasures

Much more rich than gold

I just want a heart

That captures my soul

And I'm willing to wait

I'm willing to wait

For lasting pleasure

With promises

That won't ever break

Someone help me

Find the merchant of love

Someone help me

Find the merchant of love

With a full guarantee

I felt like I discovered Joan Armatrading. I learned about her music through a friend when I was at the jazz fest in New Orleans some years back. I fell in love with this CD and especially this song. Her songs capture my heart. I have bought this CD three times and still don't have it. (My friends think if they like my CDs they can borrow them and not ever return them, LOL I like to introduce her to my friends because they have never heard of her and if I do that and they take my CD...that is a compliment to the beautiful music of Joan....

The guitar work, the lyrics, the inflections of her phrasing, her sweet voice... man! All these years later, with everything that comes with living quite a few years, Joan's songs are as beautiful as the first day they touched me almost 40 years ago. That she sort of slipped under the radar, says more about the industry than it does about her work. Not sure what it says about them, but it isn't good... Then again, it's the few I relate to. Not the raving, maniacal many. Warren Zevon got missed in the same way. Both are incredible talents that somehow barely got noticed. (comparitively speaking) I guess my best evidence, as way of explanation, is when I hear people say that Bob Dylan can't sing. I want to shout, "Are you kidding? His voice, his singing, is a huge and wonderful part of his music". Like how can you like Dylan and not like his singing? Boggles my mind. Ok, I'll quit. I'm rambling

One of my absolute favorites of Joan Armatrading's. And that is saying a lot! She always amazes me.
