Like any good story this starts slowly and has something about it that catches your ear then before you know it you are caught in the storyline and you can't put it down because, hey, "We got nowhere to go." Back to the quietude of the verse is like floating down a long slow river and then around the corner you hear the raging rapids, "You might as well scream". I enjoy the instrumental breaks between the chorus and the verse.

This song deserved more airplay than it got. If Bon Jovi had sang this song it would have gone to number one one some radio chart. just because she came out and exposed her lifestye she was shunned. it's not fair. incredibly touching this song.

This is my favorite Melissa Etheridge song of all time. Every time I hear it, it takes me back to the past when I was a regular at this gay bar I use to go to religiously and when I had an unrequited love for the bartender there. Sometimes I miss those days.
