It cannot be 1982, Lapti Nek was released with the ROTJ soundtrack in 1983, and this sounds just like a bad remix. Plus, Meco didn't do anything with Star Wars in 83. Fake, wrong, awful, crap.

It's weird, but this actually sounds less disco than the version in the movie.

The closest thing we'll get to the movie version without the background noise is to have someone that sounds similar to the film version do a cover. The original lyrics could be cleaned up to remove the background noise, but its only about a minute of lyrics that would have to be looped instead of singing the whole song.

No, there's also changed drums.

Unlikely that this is from 1982 as the movie didn't come out until 1983.

The masters for the movie version were lost. It's never been released commercially, and never will be.

@darknipple So, you're telling me that its nothing more than a pitch-shift? Then in this case, somebody might as well just shift the pitch of this, and label it as "soundtrack version".

@zutton79 Quite a tease how we hear catchy songs in films; and some can't even be accessed; even from the internet. Archiving is an important task; that some take for granted. I'm glad that recordings from the Super Mario Bros. movie (a box office failure) soundtrack were archived as clean (without scene SFX) recordings; and surfaced the web; and I'm glad they went as far as YouTube. Star Wars is a box office hit with music that we don't hear, even on the net in its unaltered form.

This isn't the exact version from the movie! I wanna hear the exact version in entirety, and without SFX from the scene.
