The best description for MAXOPHONE I could give is that they sound like an Italian Peter GABRIEL meets a classical jazz influenced progressive rock group.

"C'è un Paese al Mondo" (there's a country in the world): nice and soft piano opening shifting into a short rock prelude of electric guitar, bass and drums fading then into another soft and warm tempo that prepares the listener to the good vocals of Alberto Ravasini. Clarinet storms into at the middle of the track, then trumpet and horns...then again electric guitar and a chorus singing!

A STUNNING ITALIAN PROG MASTERPIECE!

I totally agree with you, ma friend. They made an album complete in all meanings. Unfortunately, the progressive rock was misunderstood. Today, people think that prog is old-fashioned. Good music is undateable. Saudações do Brasil!

Uno dei gruppi più sottovalutati dell'epoca d'oro del prog italiano, anche perchè hanno pubblicato un solo disco. Per me è tra i primissimi album nel genere. Nella band c'era gente uscita direttamente dal conservatorio, che musicisti...

Well I don't think they are bad. I love the three bands you mentioned. But no doubt about the other three you posted are unfortunately underrated. Maxophone is my favorite one, and Contaminazion of Rosvecio is wonderful, love that opera feeling and Museo, uufff! I'm sure Nietzsche would be proud of that sound is so poweful! Regards from Mexico

Everybody keeps talking about PFM, Banco and Le Orme, but they're all horribly overrated. IMO, Maxophone, Il Rovescio della Medaglia and Museo Rosenbach are far more spectacular and beautiful than those three. Hell, Le Orme is terribly boring and tedious! Their albums are made of fleeting, scarce but intense moments. Instead of constant quality, they'd burp these 30 seconds of pure awesomeness in each piece, remaining boring during the rest of the LP. Opinions vary with each person.

I think Maxophone album is one of the greatest and underrated albums of the prolific italian progressive rock era. It can easily compite with any record of PFM and Le orme. Just phenomal. Saludos desde mexico! C'e un paese al mondo dove crepi...!
