Jack Johnson released his debut album in 2001 and Mat McHughs' band "The Beautiful Girls" released theirs in 2002. Not really copying. The B G's have seven albums to their name released between 2002-2010 and this is Mat's solo album. Once again, not really copying.

Jack Johnson didn't create acoustic and roots music, he certainly played a big role, but it's like saying that everyone who plays rock copied Slash, and everyone who is in a band copied The Beatles... appreciate the music for what it is

i love this album, but to be fair, there are many songs on it that are VERY similar to jack's songs. who cares though? just listen to it if you like it, don't if you don't like it. it's not as if jack never borrowed from other musicians. i think mat and him just come from similar places musically, so there's some overlap in what they produce.

Songs are allowed to have the same 'feeling' as other songs. That is why they make genres of music. Jack Johnson and Mat aren't the only ones who play songs like this, there are so many people out there thats also play songs that 'feel' the same. I admit that Jack is a pioneer of the acoustic genre, but just because he is one of the most popular artists, it doesn't mean he is the only one allowed to play in that style.

oh man, i'm sorry. i didn't mean to talk about the instruments, but for sure, about the feeling. the feeling that jack johnson puts in his music is unique, and actually matt remember this feeling. indeed, i really made an ignorant view, but people grow in this world with new ideas, and please... matt is not being new.
