This song is one of my favorites from the album for two reasons. Awesome riffs abound, plus that opening lick is haunting and sticks with me. I just love the idea of being surrounded by these hulking one-eyed sasquatch-lookin' motherfuckers saying "beware the birchmen!" All the while, they're projecting their visions so you can somewhat get a tangible grasp of the dangers lurking ahead. You have been warned by the cysquatch; continue at your own peril. Oh, yeah, a cysquatch is a one-eyed sasquatch who can see into the future, FYI. The use of the vocal effect at 1:35 is perfect.

The lyrics to this song are incredible. I heard the drummer of this band's favorite album is The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, which is probably the greatest progressive rock album of all time. If you've never heard it, you should. He got the idea of the Colony of the Birchmen from that of the Colony of the Slippermen.
