I don't understand how people can say Mastodon has poor stage presence live. Like sure, they may not say much between songs, but when Troy is belting out vocals the way he is at 2:30 I don't see how it's possible to not go fucking insane in that pit.

I used to think music had to uplifting... I still kind of do but it has to convey an emotion or message. Listening to this I think it's rage, pure rage and I can feel it. It still uplifts me even though it isn't some upbeat jaunty tune played by a couple of dandies. I'd love to be able to define what exactly qualifies as true music. So dubstep don't qualify, no message and emotion. Shitty rap still qualifies cuz it has a message 'fuck bitches, accumulate wealth, say nigger often' *sigh* help me out here music intellectuals.
