This is the first copy of the master tape which was used to press the record the song appeared on. I don't have exact information which album was this on, as it was a compilation album. This tape was recorded on a Studer C37, and the playback unit with the original master tape was my A807 seen in the video.

No modification made to the sound, only normalized to -0,1dB.

Equipment used: Studer A807 straight to M-Audio Audiophile 192, iPhone 4S as camera

Kérdésem volna, ha nem túl indiszkrét:Láttam, hogy Barbara Streisand mesterszalagod is van, amiről a lemezt nyomták. Hogy sikerült ezekhez hozzájutnod? :)

completly agree with Fafner888, a remaster is an insult to all music engineers of the 60's, 70's, 80's and till mid 90's, is like saying hey you did your job wrong when the only issue was that audio was not normalized on the first digital transfer or was done poorly... no need for re-masters, only need better digitalization of same master, back then they were actual engineers that had to do their job, not just press click click on the mouse and protools does all (wrong in my taste)

Unfortunately this damage was present on the original tape as well. Most likely it was hit by some kind of electromagnetic field (like the erase head being turned on for a while).

This is a Studer A807 professional reel to reel tape deck made in 1991 in Switzerland. This setup with the plates (more often called pancakes) was popular in Europe in recording and broadcasting studios. The pancakes are attached to the machine and they serve as a support for the tape, which is wound onto the hubs (aka. bobbies). Mostly backcoated tape is used as the backcoating prevents the tape from slipping apart during storage or manipulation. (the diameter of the pancakes is 300mm or 11,8")

What type of machine is this? The reels are entirely open and the hubs seem different than a typical 10.5 inch machine.

A proof that all these over processed remasters they sell today are not really needed. It sounds great if you just make a clean copy of the master tape.
