This version fucking blows. Lady's too blown away by her own voice to sing the fn song properly. It's too fn slow, the backup singners suck , the slide guitar is retarteded and the pitch just feels wrong. Total abortion of a fantastic folk song. WAY over done. Shoula left it simple and clear.

I just discovered this wonderfully lovely song. Serendipity. Mary Black has been one of my favorite singers, since her long ago days with DéDanann. My Dad's nickname was Sonny. I never knew there was a song called "Sonny." This is a song sung by a Mum to her son. My Grandma called my Dad her Sonny & the name stuck. He was called that by friends from his childhood & from his adulthood. He died at 55 & he was still called Sonny, by those family & friends who loved him best. "Sonny, don't go away."
