0:00 - Sigma 000M-15 (000, solid mahogany top)

0:40 - Martin D-15 (Dreadnought, all solid mahogany)

1:22 - Santa Cruz OM/PWM (OM, mahogany/spruce)

2:04 - Gibson L1 Robert Johnson (small body, mahogany/spruce)

In my YouTube-Channel you will find more recordings with these guitars!

The same piece of acoustic blues played on each guitar. The takes were not made at the same time, but it was the same room and the same high-end mic (Sennheiser MKH-50 P48). No further sound treatment.

You can easily figure out some characteristic differences: 000 vs dreadnought, dreadnought vs om, sigma vs martin, mahogany vs spruce top, and some typical sound characteristics of all mahogany guitars and of gibson smallbody blues guitars.

So is this an unfair comparison? The "cheap" Chinese Sigma vs the entry-level Martin vs the high-end Santa Cruz vs the mid-priced genuine Blues Machine by Gibson? Your opinions are welcome :-)

Definitively, I would not invest some thousand dollars on any of the others. Sigma (and even Recording King ROS-616 or Cort Luce) is more than enough for me. I don't like mid-high tones of the Gibson neither. Thanks for this brilliant review.

Hi there :-) great demo and lovely playing...I was intrigued as I'm not sure what model the sigma is. Sigma do this model in an all mahogany back sides and top and an even cheaper version with laminated mahogany sides...which is this one? :-)

The Sigma guitars are very underrated at a good price You should compare a Martin to a parlour sigma there very similar

This is an outstanding comparison, completely fair IMO to both the guitars and your viewers/listeners. The samples of each guitar are long enough to permit good evaluation, and the sound quality survives YouTube's brutal compression pretty darned well. Most importantly, you didn't cripple the comparison with either talking (the instruments-- and your talented fingers-- speak very nicely for themselves) or with reverb or other effects. VERY well done, sir, and I thank you!FWIW, while each of the four guitars sounds good to my ears, and I could happily play any of them, the one I'd most like to play for the rest of my life is the Sigma. I might feel differently if the Martin had been a 000-15, 000-15S, 00-15 or 0-15.

This is one song with different guitars and mic options, all these guitars sound good, go with what hits your meaning of -"your soul sound and feel' with any guitar play it before committing to it. if you don't like the way it feels or sounds playing on your sofa then give it the boot! if it makes you feel good on your sofa then it will do the same anywhere.Gary

There are quite some differences here. Are they all with same age strings? Clicking from Martin to Gibson. there is a marked difference in especially the brighter tones, definitely in favour of the Gibson.

Close run thing between the Sigma and Santa Cruz but the SCGC edged it for me. Interesting and enjoyable video Jack.Phil
